Yeah Piltdown, amazing, huh... And I still see a reference to NASA cutbacks NOT a moon hoax in that line... That's a hilarious thread though, in a sad kind of way...

I got the impression he was just trying to be sarcastic and silly in the OP. We've seen it before; someone posting a ridiculous theory on purpose, to see how BABBers jump on it.

BA - did you add the music to that goofy moon thread titled "Andy Kaufman and R.E.M."? http://www.badastronomy.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?topic=1729&forum=3&20 My speakers play "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"! Opens new possibilities for other threads.

I think you're right, BA. With that in mind, I couldn't resist posting a message asserting that John is, in fact, more credible and reasonable than most HBs.

Personally, I couldn't decide if I should be laughing with the guy or at him. The idea is so ridiculous it would be hard to believe he takes it seriously.
Unfortunately, having been on the web a while, I've learned that some of the most hilarious posters take themselves very seriously.

Nice to talk to you tonight Phil. Can't believe that Planet X stuff is still going on. How many times can something be de-bunked? Don't answer that. BTW, as an incentive to show up at the convention, Girl 6 and I will definitely take you along on the skepchic pub crawl. Lisa

Same here. I wish I had more chances to get on, but life intervenes.

Heh. Not Denise? ;-) Well, I am trying to see what my schedule will be like. It's hard to turn down an invitation from The Man himself.

I wouldn't have worded it quite the same way, James...but I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment.

Of course Denise. Also Soubrette and Seelie. Trish is now making plans to attend too. (Good thing too, we'll need someone in the group with some common sense. Denise and I do not apply. Girl 6, Sou, and Seelie can be iffy at times) Lisa

Well, thank you ever so much for the vote of confidence. But, are you implying that I can't just toss common sense to the winds that night?

Sorry Trish. Just can't imagine you being anything else than sensible. Well this is just great. Now Phil is going to be in charge of about a half-dozen trashed skepchicks. Denise wants to find the nearest "Discovery" store and demand proof of the whole magnetic bracelet thing. Girl 6 wants to find a male stripper club. Hope the taxis run pretty late in Ft Lauderdale.

Well, I hope this doesn't mean you think I'm boring. Why must I always be the sensible one? I don't get it.

I have a stupid idea: Assuming I do drive down, why don't I drive you all around? Hell, it'd save money and you'd have a designated driver.
Trish, I think it's because you have a kid.... No, wait, so does Denise. Well, there goes that idea. *tosses idea over shoulder, hitting and breaking something fragile, but not too important*

Never said you were boring. You're just a hell of a lot more sensible that I am. I tend to be a little erratic at times. And on occasion, Denise has been so far "out there", I'm not sure even search parties would have helped. Don't worry about kids, there's already a volunteer babysitter lined up. He's a college student from New Jersey, and not old enough to even go into the places we'll be at. Lisa
