As long as I get to pick when you're passed out.

I'm just curious about why people think I'm sensible. I just don't get it - my kid thinks I'm nuts.

All kids think their parents are nuts. I think my Dad is nuts sometimes, especially the religious crap. My mother, OTOH, is a different story. But, ever since I moved out of the house four years ago, things have gotten much better between us.

Hey guys! Sorry I havent been around much lately, but I promise to stick around.
I just wanted to comment on the kids thinking their parents are nuts. Well coming from me, of course I think my partents are nuts...no not nuts, just plain crazy!! Well, half of my family is at least normal(Dad and Carol). My mom on the other hand is totally different. She's like Miss Cleo but without the black skin and the 'accent'. And it doesnt help that she married Pete, the old man from the Renaissance who is a wannabe Harley biker...sorry
So I will have to agree with James on this one: all, if not most, kids think thier parents are nuts.
I also think that it has something to do with the parents forgetting that we are still kids. I have that problem. I tend to carry myself at a higher age, I perfer to think of myself as an adult even though I am only 15 years old. It's like I'm not allowed to make mistakes because I'm more mature than most 15 year olds, and when I do all hell breaks loose. But as you can tell, I manage to get over it pretty fast, and I remind my parents that I'm still a kid. It's almost like they forget that they were once kids to. Ok I think I'm getting off of the subject..sorry.
Oh and I'm on vacation so I might not respond as soon as I would like to. But I'll try!

Hey Megan, how are things on the east coast. Hope you and Erika haven't driven Carl and Carol around the bend yet. I know you two don't get along that well, but try to behave, at least for the parents sanity. When will you be getting back? Trish (and maybe Caity) will be here next week. The skies are nice and clear now that the fires are out. I figured we'd drag the scope up to Pactola for our own little star party. You in? Lisa

Megan, that's absolutely a perfect time to come back. Caity and I should be there sometime on the 22nd.

One of the ironies of life is that teen agers drive their parents mad and then complain that they are crazy.
The worst is when they are 19 or so and you find yourself thinking "Gee, I'm really enjoying their company. It seems that lately they have become very witty and intelligent." That's a sure sign that they are going to move out. You put up with their crap for years and just when they become charming--they leave.

LOL!! I can totally relate to that. But I have a wonderful relationship with my parents, my dad and stepmom that is. We can talk about anything, and unlike most parents, they are actually cool to hang around with, even with my friends being there!! (Dad's a liason[sp?] officer, stepmom is a teacher) I love my relationship with my parents and wouldnt want it any other way.

Am I being paranoid or does "Hokey-Pokey" sound a lot like P*p*r? We see the same heedless arrogance, the same stubborn insistence on repeating baseless allegations after they have been thoroughly debunked, the same sweeping, self-serving, conclusions about the results of argument, and the same continuous barrage of ad hominem attacks. HP, like P*p*r, apparently defines winning an argument as not being forced to shut up and make sense.

Egads Piltdown! Is this Hokey Pokey guy an idiot, or what? He also proves my point about 99% of the trolls out there. Nothing he's said indicates he's read the BadAstronony Site,or any other credible astronomy site for that matter. He found, (or was told about) the BadAstronmy forum, and jumps in with a rant and no evidence. Next I expect he'll threaten to hold his breath til he's blue.

That is clearly a possibility.
