This is kind of cool. I did the work on this house. I mean, I built all the cabinets and the fireplace and the kitchen, window seats, etc. And it got published in Cottage Living.
I am actually listed as the cabinetmaker at the end of the magazine, though I did much more than that.

Excellent Kil! I especially like the cabinet doors.

Your cabinetry work reminds me of the very fine work in some older homes from the early 20th Century that one sees in California. Nice work!

I am very fond of the arts and craft style that is often seen here in California, as you mentioned. Interestingly, they say in the article that we added cabinets to look like the existing ones. That is not exactly so. What I did was to alter the existing cabinets, which are not pictured, to look like mine. The kitchen is much bigger than what is pictured, but I built all of the cabinets in the picture, and then some…
This is actually the third time I have had my work in an article. But it's the first time I was given credit. More often, the designer takes all the credit. Even when we tell the designer what would work best. Go figure…

WOW!
I own a house that was built in 1928 by my grandparents. It stood empty for many years. I began restoring about five years ago. Such things are never finished, of course, but one of the things I still lack are cabinets just like those. I have dreamt of those cabinets.
I have decided instead of sending my children to college I am now saving to bring you to Kentucky, Kil, because I really need those beautiful cabinets.

Nice work Kil.
I noticed (or perhaps missed) that they didn't mention/credit you in the web article. You'd think there'd be more room for detail in the web version than the print version. Cheap b@stards.
Edit: For those that care, clicking on the "printer version" link gets you a nice single "page" version without the advertisements. A useful trick to use for a lot of news sites too. |
