My second reaction to the terrorist attack on Sept 9,2001 was "So this is how Bush can get himself elected to a second term." After the nonsense following the last Presidential Election most people thought that George Bush was going to be a one-term President just like his father.
What if he knew the only way he could get reelected was to cause a catastrophe to prove his leadership ability. Think about it! Kill a few thousand Americans, come to the countries aid, beat the bad guys and he has his second term. A good strategy! Except for the fact that I do not think George W is bright enough to think of it on his own, it is a foolproof plan. So who did think of it? The list is endless.
But before the men in the badly cut black suits show up on my door asking me all sort of questions I want to state clearly and emphatically that this is strictly a joke!
But that brings up the question of the Bush family's plan to rule the world. After all with millions of people in the United States to be in charge of this country was the only choice we had another Bush? If it was then we really are in trouble. Maybe it is something in the water?

I must say, I am unwilling to grant the possibility of a conspiracy of this magnitude without a shred of positive evidence.

Jeez, that's a pretty full on theory. Even if it was true, there would have to be a lot of people in on it. Keeping something like that under wraps is an impossibility.
I don't know that much about U.S. politics, however I think the reason Bush went into politics is because his father did...as do a lot of sons who follow in their fathers footsteps. I can't really comment on his policies because I know about as much about them as you guys would of ours, however I don't think (or the U.S government) could orchestrate something like that without someone knowing.
As for creating a Bush "New World Order", I don't think so. I remember the day it happened, the look on his face when he was told said it all, he was just as shocked as the rest of us. Personally, I wouldn't have liked to have his job right there and then. He did O.K, but not as well as Rudi Guiliani who from over here seemed to act magnificently in what would have been a terrible, terrible time.

Daddy Bush had the Gulf War too early in his term to ride his popularity to a second term. So, 'W' decided to start a war that would never end so he would be at least a god by the time he dies. He'll probably be president for life.
How's that for logic?

Yeah, like the Apollo moon hoax.

Maybe it happened without his knowledge. You know, a "genuine" reaction.
Personally, if it had been setup by our government, it's too early in his term for it. Dubya wasn't even prez for a year before it happened. IMO, if they really had wanted to set it up, they should've waited until either the year before or the year of the next election to make it happen. Easier for the public to remember.
As for the fact that it happened when it did, either we'd better settle in for a long war, or it's gonna be long gone from most people's memory by the next election.

This 'theory' has been ricochetting around the web since 9/12, and maybe a little earlier.
I find it tough to buy in spite of arguments that the Bush family has close ties the the bin Laudin family (something to do with financing, I seem to recall).
Which is not to say that Bush won't take advantage of it. He's going to, and indeed already is, milk it like an eight-teated cow.
Just my tuppence.

Without any evidence there is no theory. It's just a case of the "what ifs" gone dangerously out of control.

This idea seems to be very popular with a variety of groups ranging from rightwing conspiracy nuts to the anti-war crowd.
Some versions just suggest that Bush or somebody had prior knowledege and did nothing. This is mostly by people who have problems accepting that somebody, they consider as allpowefull, could not have foreseen it.
I personally don't buy any of these theories. There just is no evidence for it.
Sure a lot of people profitied in strange ways of these events but that does not mean that they are responsible for them. If somebody had actively planing to take away peoples civil liberties, give the defese-industry a boust and gain westerners access to the oil piplines in the area then this surely was a lucky incident for them. As some have pointed out so luck that if it had not happened by itself they would have to arrange for it. But somehow I doubt that there is somebody who has been planning all that. Just a lot of people who saw an oppertunity when it presented itself.

Sorry, I believe that on the day BOB comes to get me in his flying saucer and take his loyal followers away from the Pinks and the Norms and to the planet of the Sex Goddesses.

When you put it like that it sounds just like the old story about FDR knowing about Pearl Harbor beforehand and doing nothing.

First, let me agree with those who think this theory is just plain silly.
Second, let me disagree a bit with the contention that it would involve too many people in the conspiracy.
Without really trying to figure out the details, it seems that this would be one theory that requires relatively few people who know the originating source. Get a few controllers in the right places and hire the same terrorists under a False Flag pretense so they think they're working for somebody else.

Not totally unsuprising this theory is sometimes given by the same people who think that about Pearl Habor. They have progressed so far now that they consider FDR conspiracy theories as fact and use them as an example when trying to prove their thories about 9/11.

Perhaps I should of put this under Humor!
Only one person saw this as the joke it was meant to be. What a bunch of seriuos Skeptics we have here!
Though I still worry about a nation that can find only one family to be charge of the US. If Jeb decides to run and wins after W is finished then I am seriously thinking of moving to Canada. But then again Minnesota elected Jessie Ventura Governer so maybe I should just leave now. SMILE!!!

I think everybody here realized that you were not seroius about it. Unfortunately there a quite a large number of people out there who do at least seriously consider this to be a possibility.
And if you compare it to some other crackpot thories it is really not as far out there as some other ideas discussed here. It is still a very stupid idea, thou.
If you want to see how many version of this are out there just do a Google search on some key-words like 'Reichstag' and 'WTC'.
It is hard for many people to accept that sometimes coincidences happen, that sometimes people are acting out of stupidity rather than malice and that the gouvernment of the US is not unfailable and allknowing.

Hey! Ah, I would've attacked you a couple years back, but I'm better than that and given the stuff he's done lately, unless he pulls something big out of his hat by Election Day this year, I highly doubt he'll be back.
Anyway, back to the subject of this thread... IMO, no.

I guess I worry in general about anyone who would want the kind of power a person in politics can get and my state has a recognized Mafioso for Governor so who am I to talk.
Then there are people who think we doctors all have God Complexes (and of course that is ridiculous) so there is no safe occupation out there that is above suspicion. I did have a freind who admitted he wanted to become a minister because of all the personal power he would have over other peoples lives and today he heads up one of the wealthiest Presbyterian Congregations in the country. Anyway just sign me off today as... The Great and Powerful Dr Shari
