Phil Plait's Bad Astronomy Website will soon be adding a whole section on Creationist Astronomy. It isn't up yet, but there are some items on the BadAstro message board. When the new pages come up, creation-nuttery should replace the Fox moon hoax-hoax as the number one subject on that board. The Skeptic Friends regulars have more than a passing familiarity with this, since promoting weird astronomy is a favorite concern of Kent Hovind in particular.

Greetings, Piltdown! Just think - Phil's board will be populated by two of society's most dreaded troll species: Conspiraliars and raving dogmatists (or are they godmatists?).

Oh, but Rubysue, if the creation-nuts invade BA, who will Jack White rant at? (Heavy sarcasm alert) Come on, admit it, you'll miss him. Here's something to cause a nightmare or two: Not only is the guy an avid HBer, he'll probably also turn out to be a young-earth creationist. Brrrrr.

Lisa, you weren't around for the flame on 'you can't debunk god' over at BA.
LOL, I personally can't wait to sink my teeth into a few creationuts. Sickens me to see fools quote the bible, st. thomas aquinas ad nauseum as scientific proof.

The sad truth is that not many Creationists post here. Oh sure, we get some mail, but not many posts. It would be good to see that change, but for some reason they don't debate all that much here.

Too bad. Just one problem with creationuts and religious fanatics, the 'god told me so' mentality.

Trish: nope, sorry, missed that one. Too bad, lots of free entertainment down the tubes. Hey, we can still look forward to what's-him-name and his doctored photos. I like to sit back and watch Johnno rip him apart. @tomic: If you were a creationist, would you want to post here? I mean, would you walk into a lion's den with a nice rare prime rib tied around your neck? A friend of mine, who hasn't registered, but has lurked, says this board and the BA board have the "biggest bunch of smart-asses I've ever seen". (I prefer the more-PC "somewhat intolerant of fools") I'm looking forward to the Creationist Astronomy page at BA. Wow! Crack open a beer, kick back and watch the circus! Lisa

Lisa, was pretty fun, but that john white guy absolutely has to find something better to do with his time! Maybe if he got a life or something, but the boy is just warped. I flame pretty easily when it comes to people cramming religion down my throat. But 'god told them too', rrrrrrr!

I sent him E-mails of Sagans' "The Fine Art of Baloney Detection" and "The Burden of Skepticism" and then he disappeared.
He might have seen reason or he might be working on that "Grand Rebuttal" he has been promising. You know, the one where science proves that there is a supernatural world out there.
My money is on equipment failure.

In my own defense, it's not that I enjoy being a vicious attack marmot, I just cannot abide lazy, arrogant, know-nothing-and-will-never-learn-anything pseudoscientists with a hidden agenda. These people cause my autonomic nervous system to twitch out a nonsympathetic response; I have no control over this.
Imagine being trapped in an elevator with a horde of overstarched, zombatic pentacostal fundamentalists, breaths all a waft with listerine, hair firmly gelatined in place. A sweet medley of Yanni's Greatest Hits echo fragrantly from the overhead eight-ohm speaker.
Ten seconds after the door closes, the elevator comes to a shuddering stop between floors.
Welcome to Hell.
That's the sensation I feel.

About ten seconds into I'd be clawing my way out of the elevator, or in jail when the doors opened.
Both are pretty much the same in my book, belief without reason, thought or logic.

Oh what fun, creationists AND HBers... ::shivers::
I cut my teeth in the "Evolution is a Fact" chat room on AOL. Unbelievable the loonies we got. Not only creationists, but ufologists, Sitchin and Velikovsky worshipers, people that thought aliens built the pyramids, you name it... And not a coherent argument EVER, lol.
Be prepared for "If we evolved from monkeys how come we still have monkeys" (mispelt in a variety of ways, often followed by "all y'all need Jesus")

Think we saw that with Jar Jar Binks 45 just recently.
Fun debates, if the rules of debate are defined. Unfortunately they think the ultimate TRUTH is on their side and of course since we don't believe in god's word or jesus' we are naturally in league with Lucifer and it is their moral obligation to bring us to the light and save our immortal souls.
Ack! Ack! Ack! Look, hacked up a religious hairball. Ick!

I'm glad Slater answered that one. When I read it last night, I really tried to post a response. I'd start out reasonable, and the whole thing would just turn into a flame. I guess we all have "hot buttons", and I think Jar Jar managed to find a few of mine. There's still a small tendril of smoke escaping my left nostril. Lisa

My lovely wife, of course!
1. They say Jesus died and came back. 2. Jesus was seen alive but flew away. 3. Jesus is portrayed as a shepard, with people as his flock. This can be interptreted as "food-stuff". 4. Christians are fervent about letting Jesus at your major blood pumping organ. 5. The largest christian organization symbolically drinks blood. 6. Lucifer, "the light bringer", is considered evil.
Dunno about what you guys thing, but Jesus has all the makings of a vampire.
