I'd not contemplate living in USA for any extended period of time, not in a hundred years. Maybe I could be convinced otherwise, if I could find a place which most resembled Sweden. Which state in USA is most socialistic?

Meh, lived in America for half a year. Nothing makes you so willing to pay taxes as going to America. You guys can't even maintain your roads properly!
Hmmm. America's a big place. I see plenty of well-maintained roads. Can't say I've seen all of them, but you make it sound like the whole country is dirt roads and gravel.

I lived in Italy for half a year and traveled in Europe several other times since then. It's not like the whole of Europe is marvelous gold-plated pathways or something.

Anyhow, this thread isn't a US vs. Europe debate and I don't want to waste too much time on it (though Dude is right-- the US has a lot it can learn from Europe!). I'll just say that aside from rooting against McCain so as to stop the ever-encroaching Republican theocratic agenda, I also hope that an Obama victory will finally enable the federal government to do things it's supposed to, like repair infrastructure. The last 8 years have been a real disaster for this country in that regard (among very, very many).

Months to even decide that you wanted to visit? No offense, Mab, but that's sort of pathetic.

The one party Commonwealth of Massachusetts!!!

Our tax rate will remind you of home... Heck Sweden may be cheaper!

I have been leaving here for a bit more than 4 years now.
Can't complain personally but then, I am single healthy and with no children to provide for. And, honestly, I have quite modest needs.
Also, I have a secure state job. So, I am probably doing better than many natives and, if I settle and make my career here; I would probably do fine.

Still; I would not like to make my live here. I would probably be among the privileged ones that have little to worry about. But I don't like having to be among the privileged ones for that. And when I passes my genes along; I wouldn't like my kids to consider it to be the normal state of a society...

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

Which Live WEB TV is best in terms of following the election and election results?

Some TV that is not factually challenged like Faux-News or CNN.
I would have watched a Swedish WEB-TV but they are just talking, and not following the numbers and districts...

PBS looks like it will start streaming live video in just over an hour. Right now, most voting stations are still open, Mab, so there aren't a lot of numbers to talk about just yet. But when things start closing soon (in ca. 15 minutes) you'll hear more.

Unfortunately, it looks like Comedy Central isn't going to be streaming their Indecision 2008 coverage.

I am on CNN right now and... fuck... so far there is a lot of states where Obama is heading by 10 points or more (he actually in the mid 60 in quite a few...) it's early but... fuck... that's impressive!
