If former President Bush has wanted to talk to my child about doing better in school, I would have been HAPPY despite my deep loathing of him. There would have been no outcry from the liberals if one of the worst presidents in the history of this country wanted to speak to children about the benefits of getting an education.

So why all the WHARBLGRBL outrage from the right because Secret Muslim Magic Negro Socialist Communist Nazi Fascist Non-Citizen Racist President Obama wants to tell our children that doing better in school is a good thing? Geez, I wonder why?

The Right has built up this Cult of Strawman Personality about President Obama to the point that they are terrified to the point of delusional paranoia over their own fake monster.

I believe he is going to talk about educational goals, the value of education, how to do better in school, being a good citizen. I don't think he will be political, but with the questionable people he surrounds himself with, it is reasonable to at least question what he will say. I heard that the White House will publish the speech on Monday. That would be great and all I ever wanted.

Also, wouldn't it be beneficial if he discussed the educational goals with the parents? Why wouldn't the parents benefit from his speech. If he is going to give idea's about how to better their education, shouln't the parents know as well to help them? It would be better if he did this in the evening.

Why is this President being treated differently?

Both Presidents George Bush and Ronald Reagan both gave speeches aimed specifically at students that were nationally televised. In 1989, Bush delivered a televised anti-drug speech, and Reagan's 1986 commencement speech and Q&A session was "beamed over public television into 171 school districts," according to the L.A. Times.

It's worth noting that schools are, encouraged, not required, to air the speech. The Houston Chronicle reports that one Dallas school district is leaving the decision to individual teachers. Susan Dacus, spokeswoman for the Wylie school district, says parents who don't want their children to see it can opt out.

In an ironic twist, one Missouri school won't be airing the speech because of a lack of funding. Michelle Baumstark, spokeswoman for Columbia public schools, told the Columbia Daily Tribune, "We don't have the funding or the equipment to support that type of broadcasting.”

I never said my child would be brainwashed or caused psychological harm. Why do you continue to attribute idea's to me that I never said?

I will wait for your reply to call me a racist again.

You implied it Robb. The only people expressing any "concern" over this speech are the crazy fuckers. Glen Beck, for example.

(on a side note, anyone actually watch any Beck recently? He has descended into open insanity. He did this 5 minute rant the other day about communist symbolism in NYC.... crazy is an understatement.)

So as soon as the lunatic wingnuts start harping on this, in you stroll with your little "concern" troll post. You're "worried". You "hope" you can see a transcript in advance. You are "wondering" why he can't give this speech in the evening when parents can watch with their children! CONCERN TROLLING!

Get over it.

Your refusal to answer my other questions is noted.

Keith Olbermann Refutes Glenn Beck's "Communist" Rockefeller Center

Crazy stuff. I do wish Oldrmann would have just let Beck's words do the talking. Beck is so crazy, that Oldermann's commentary (funny as it was) could not top Beck's own rant for laugh out loud loonyness. But I love the inclusion of the scene from Blazing Saddles.

I just don't know why even Fox keeps that whackaloon around.

Republican Newt Gingrich defended Bush's speech, though. "Why is it political for the president of the United States to discuss education?" Gingrich said at the time. "It was done at a nonpolitical site and was beamed to a nonpolitical audience. . . . They wanted to reach the maximum audience with the maximum effect to improve education."

'Florida GOP Chairman Jim Greer issued a press release Tuesday slamming the plan. The release quotes Greer saying he is "absolutely appalled that taxpayer dollars are being used to spread President Obama's socialist ideology" and "liberal propaganda."'

I am pleased to note that both the NC and SC school boards are going to show the speech. On the other hand, TX, FL, CO, and a few others that i haven't yet heard about are populated with too many partisan scumbags, and big-time suck. What the hell are they afraid of, anyway? Oh, right....

My school district in Texas will show the speech live and any parent can opt their child out. I think this is a reasonable policy. As I said before, my child will see the speech with my wife at the school.
