Yeah. I just found this thread now. Sorry I'm late, but it at least sounds like things are starting to look up. |
>From: enuffenuff@fastmail.fm (excerpt follows): > I'm looking to teach these two bastards a lesson they'll never forget. > Personal visit by mates of mine. No violence, just a wee little chat. > > **** has also committed more crimes than you can count with his > incitement of hatred against a religion. And Reynold, fucking run, and don't stop. > Disappear would be best as it was you who dared to attack me on my > illness knowing nothing of the cause. What brought that on? this. Original posting here.
Another example of this guy's lunacy here. |

Dr. Mabuse kindly wrote to me and asked after Emily, so I figured I should update everyone while I was at it.
Emily has doing really well. So far the cancer has remained in remission since her stem cell transplant in April of last year. The doctor's haven't declared her "cured" yet, but they have expressed confidence that if we haven't seen any sign of recurrence by now it's probably gone. There's still a few more scans and tests needed before they'll take out the port in her chest, but if the next PET scan is clean they will likely remove the port then. The doctors are beholden to the judgments of the insurance company as to the necessity of such tests, so it's always a struggle to to get them approved, even after everything she's been through.
She does still continue to struggle with fatigue and minor bouts of illness. The stem cell transplant basically reset her immune system and wiped out any existing immunities, so this is expected. She did have to receive all of her children inoculations again, or at least those her immune system could handle. The doctors said she could not receive any vaccine that uses a live but weakened virus. So she is not immunized against such things polio, smallpox, chicken pox, measles, mumps or rubella. This is where herd immunity comes into play and why those people who refuse to vaccinate their children against these preventable diseases actually put my wife's life at risk.
But Emily has also had some great experiences. She was able to travel to France with her mother and visit a friend in Wales over the summer without any major incidents. I am very proud of how far she's come and extremely thankful for the efforts of her doctors and all the friends and family who supported us through this illness. While nothing is certain, things do look up. I thank everyone here at the SFN who expressed concern.

Very good news Humbert!!!
Speaking of herd immunity, don't go to Santa Cruz California! |
Uncertainty may make you uncomfortable. Certainty makes you ridiculous.

I was on a long hiatus from SFN when this thread first went up, so this is the first I've read it. Congrats on finding love, H.H. I'm so sorry you both have had to suffer through all this, but I'm so glad things are turning out well. Hopefully the news will continue to be bright and some day you'll be adding to it about a child through that experimental method mentioned. Good luck to you both! |
