A few days ago, the New York Times ran an article observing that fewer than 15% of its contributors are women. What the writer, Noam Cohen, draws from this-- sadly-- is that there is rampant sexism at play.

It would be great if someone did a study on why women don't contribute to wikipedia. As one commenter said there are multiple factors at play. It could be women have less interest in contributing in wikipedia than men do. Or it could be that women don't have the confidence to do so. Girls and women still get a lot of messages that they can't or shouldn't do certain things men can do.
