Thanks Dave.

One of the standard teachings among more liberal churches is that Jesus came to replace the old covenant, including the old laws. But here I have evidense that the New Testament says that the old laws, for example the one about women raped inside the city walls, or people involved in homosexual activities, should be stoned to death.

Indeed, to be an atheist and still say "that's not the god I believe in" is especially stupid, since atheists do not believe in any gods at all.

The idea that God answers to you is just ridiculous. I hear people say this most often when speaking on the issue of Hell. Hears a newsflash....IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT HIM! And it takes alot more than a little arrogence if you think otherwise. The utter gaul of thinking God wastes a moment caring what anyone thinks about him. He set the rules clearly if don't like them....YOUR LOSS!

Exactly. Thor doesn't care that you think that God is in fact the God from the Bible.

He's not a politicly correct God. He does not have to be. People use woman in leadership issues as a hang-up for Christians, as if it's an issue that we have to answer to. Don't get me wrong, I respect woman as much as is possible. Believe they are equal to men in every way in the eyes of God and myself. But God said "they should not be in positions of spiritual leadership over men". So I don't care hat people think about my positions. I only care what God thinks about my position.

My guess is that you do not, in fact, respect women as much as you say you do, and then say "God said this and that, I have no choice but to agree". But of course you have a choice. It's terribly difficult for God to punish you since he doesn't exist. Or, the other alternative is that you do respect women but in general can't make up your own mind about such things, and let a fictional God do it for you. Or something.

So, you care what God says, and you agree with him? Ah, interesting. The Bible says that women are in fact inferior to men, and that they should shut up in church. I would like to know how it's possible to believe women are equal, if they are declared inferior, and if they are forbidden to even speak while in church?

Try to know what your talking about before you post, it go's right along with the thinking before you post.

It does not say woman should shut up in the church at all. Becaus ethey can't be a pastor, does'nt mean that they can't speak up for what they believe.

And what kind of stupid argument is it to jst tell me that God does'nt exist? I'm just as positive as you are that God DOES exsist. That's just like me saing to you, "evolution never happened. Why? Because it did'nt, and if that's not good enough for you then you must be stupid". If I said anything like that with no reason for saying it I would be slaughtered. So to be perfectly clear, don't be an ididot. I know your smarter than to just tell me, "God does'nt exsist. No reason, he just does'nt."

Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that Our Lord finds our desire, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.-- C.S. Lewis

Indeed, one should know what one is talking about before posting. 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 reads:
Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
There you have it. The above is KJV, but both the NIV and NKJV read similarly: women aren't allowed to speak in church. It is the law.

Dave W. beat me to it; read his post for the quote from the Bible.

But you DO say that your God does exist, and you have absolutely nothing to back it up with. Or perhaps you do, and you simply chose not to present the evidence that *would* convince us. Why is that? You have a great opportunity to convince me that God exist. Of course, this opportunity have existed for centuries, and still, nothing.
