Besides the direct assault on reason and faith that the PBS series represents, Evolutionism propagandists often times try to sneak their false doctrine into popular culture via oblique references whose constant reiteration is designed to inculcate acceptance of their unacceptable message. As noted German Evolutionist Joseph Goebbels was fond of saying, if you repeat a lie often enough, people will start to believe it. Ardent Atheistic Darwinist Richard Dawkins even wrote a book1 about how to spread ideology as a type of "biological weapon" using jingles and pop-culture.

More of the same ol' blather. I think they've run out of material; they repeat themselves endlessly, however many times they've been shown to be full of shit.

I must remind that 'reason' and 'faith' are not synonamous. Indeed, faith, oft misguided, becomes nonsense when matched with reason.

These people are insane!:
quote:
However, these propagandists aren't just targeting the young. Take for example Apple Computers, makers of the popular Macintosh line of computers. The real operating system hiding under the newest version of the Macintosh operating system (MacOS X) is called... Darwin! That's right, new Macs are based on Darwinism! While they currently don't advertise this fact to consumers, it is well known among the computer elite, who are mostly Atheists and Pagans. Furthermore, the Darwin OS is released under an "Open Source" license, which is just another name for Communism. They try to hide all of this under a facade of shiny, "lickable" buttons, but the truth has finally come out: Apple Computers promote Godless Darwinism and Communism.
What the FUCK?!?! Lemme get this straight-- because a computer company names its OS after a famous scientist, it must also be based on that scientists ideas? If the people at Apple had called their OS Plato, would it mean that it hung out with lots of women but didn't want to have sex with them?

And what in God's fucking name are they talking about with Apple being communist? Did they not read that Apple is going to split its stock? What fucking communist company engages in a capitalist thing like the market driven stock exchange?!? Jesus fucking Christ-- grow a fucking brain!

Oh-- I'm seeing now that some of this is old. So no, back in '02, Apple didn't have the iPod to launch its sales through the roof. Still, since when is a giant computer company communist?! I fucking hate Fundie Christian liars!

I really thought that site was a joke site, kinda like Landover....

But maybe not

Pretty over the top.

If it's a joke site, Dude, it's so remarkably similar to many of the real arguments put forth by Fundies that it's difficult to tell the difference. Landover is so completely over-the-top that it should be easy for anyone to figure out (it they can unwedgie themselves first), but this site, beyond calling "chmod 666" a "secret code" (which may just be simple ignorance), isn't really that far off of the ultra-conservative Christian mainstream.

I don't think it's a spoof. As noted, it ain't all that far out and much of the ranting can be found elsewhere.
quote:
ADDENDUM III (4/20/2002): Another reader (it has been busy today!) has informed me of another link between Apple and the forces of darkness that my initial research missed. Apparently the Darwin OS is not the original creation of Apple Computers but is instead based off of an older, obsolete OS called "BSD Unix". The child-indoctrinatingly-cute cartoon mascot of this OS is a devil holding a pitchfork (pictured right). This OS -- and its Darwin offspring -- extensively use what are called "daemons" (which is how Pagans write "demon" -- they are notoriously poor spellers: magick, vampyre, etc.) which is a program that hides in the background, doing things without the user's notice. If you are using a new Macintosh running OS X then you probably have these "daemons" on your computer, hardly something a good Christian would want! This clearly illustrates that not only is Macintosh based on Darwinism, but Darwinism is based on Satanism.

The guy really is an idiot as well as an ignoramous, isn't he?

The spellings he speaks of have been around since long before the neo-pagan movement came forth -- Elizabethen English, if I'm not mistaken (Cuniformist?), and the li'l devil is holding a trident, not a pitchfork.

As the font is so small, I've had to read it in fits and starts, and it's started giving me some fits of laughter.

Wooly, ya really should have put it in humor...

Ahem. Anyway. I'd love to use a Mac but they're insanely expensive, so I'll just go with my good friend Linux, oh yeah.

Makes me a proud owner of a Mac, really... I'm confused on one point though. I thought Bill Gates was the anti-christ.

Does anybody really believe that the Mac is subliminally drawing them to The Dark Side?

You know, these extreme fundies remind me of children who see boogeymen everywhere. I'm being serious here. You know how kids tend to be suggestible and easily frightened by ghost stories, dark bedrooms, things they don't understand, etc.? Of course, I've long thought that conservatives and libertarians were stuck in the land of arrested development...perhaps fundies are too.

And I keep coming back to the same point in my mind: If they truly believe in God, then nothing can come between them and the Lord, not even subliminal programming on the Mac. So WHY are their collective panties in a collective wad?

Exactly Renae. I often wonder how they are able to make it through the day what with all the magic and evil spirits flying around, not to mention the constant uncertainty wondering when the Holy Cosmic Thunderer or the Dark One will pull his next publicity stunt and smite thee or thy bretheren. No wonder guys like the Richard Paley who wrote the linked drivel come off sounding like drueling morons. Who's got time to think when they're constantly in fear?

Interesting question. I can honestly say that I was not “The Evil Skeptic” before I owned a Mac.

Also, My Mac will not let me view that site. It keeps sending me to a web-hosting site. I have tried two browsers now. What is it that my Mac does not want me to know?

Are these things mere coincidence? You decide...

I often prefer "chmod 777," by the way...

But here's an idea... I doubt that it would take a long time to find something "Satanic" about US currency. Can we convince this schmuck that cash is also a tool of the Devil, and so he should avoid it at all costs? Then we can work on banks and credit cards. Sure, the guy can live a long life without using a Mac, but how will he be able to proselytize as he does once we convince him that the Internet itself is the spawn of chaos?

I don't think so Dave. That would require these douchebags to reach a conclusion based on logic and reason. What are the odds of that happening?

It appears we have entered a terrible new phase in the Evolutionism propaganda campaign that Apple Computers has been waging. Apple has just announced the "eMac", a Macintosh computer designed specifically to smuggle Darwinism into our schools! According to their propagandistic sloganeering, the "e" in "eMac" ostensibly stands for "education", although it should be obvious to readers by now that it's really a cryptic tipping of the hat to their true agenda: "Evolutionism".

I own an EMachine desktop. I guess that it is part of the evolution agenda too, right?

And so is email, etrade, evangelical christians....

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

Eh... well, I don't know about him being a notorious frequenter at nudie bars and I seriously doubt obscene and violent rap songs, but betting the subscription of a skin-magazine over the existence of black holes seems to be right.
