What is striking to me is how CNN has titled this story.
Maybe 'Dr. Biblogy' can quickly get another job right down his alley over at Dr. Dino's Dinosaur Adventureland. I hear there's a full time opening over there for at least the next 10 years. [ba-da-bing]

Besides the irreducible complexity and time needed doesn't match time elapsed (of course if you think the Earth is 6,000 years old... ), the wishful thinkers also claim the false analogy if you throw airplane parts into a hangar an infinite number of times you'll never get an airplane. The last one is claimed as evidence you have to "design" the plane.

What we have here is a minor tragedy stemming from a simple miscommunication. When Kris Helphinstine was hired on, he mis-parsed the job title, "Substitute Biology Teacher." He thought the title meant he was supposed to teach a substitute for biology.

Someone with more than half of a brain will read Dembski's words for the crap they are. Some don't.
And some may see the irony here considering Dembski is now propagating his ignorance at a Southern Baptist bible college in East Nowhere Texas - The Southern Baptists split from the regular Baptists when the latter opposed slavery. The Southern Baptists remain one of the most vile branches of Christianity - currently advocating the subordination of women. A few years ago I heard an interview with a Southern Baptist woman who had fought toth and nail to prevent her church from removing her great grandoughters body from the church cemetery after they discvered the infant's father was black.
Soon the Apes will be denying Evolution because they don't want to admit they share common descent with the likes of Dembski. |

Mark Looy of AiG, knickers knotted to the point of Gordian, responds:quote: March 27, 2007
A substitute biology teacher in Sisters, Oregon, was fired last week for allegedly not following the state's official goals and guidelines regarding the teaching of evolution in public school science classes.* Mr. Kris Helphinstine was accused of teaching biblical creationism, and was also criticized for making a link between evolution and eugenics in Nazi Germany.
Helphinstine, in talking to AiG late last week, denied teaching creationism. He indicated that he merely followed Oregon's education department's goal that “any genuinely scientific evidence for or against any explanation of life may be taught.” Helphinstine said that in desiring to teach his students about bias in science and to develop their critical thinking skills, he handed out two AiG articles, one being about natural selection and genetics, and poodles written by AiG–U.S. President Ken Ham. He was careful to delete phrases that mentioned the Bible or creationism, and stuck to the science of genetics and natural selection contained in the article. An uproar ensued in central Oregon. Because the article was written by a creationist, it was wrongly assumed that Helphinstine was teaching creationism. He was also strongly criticized for showing slides to his students that revealed the connection between evolution and the eugenics practices of the Nazis in Germany more than 60 years ago.
To read the abridged article on poodles and genetics written by Ken Ham which Helphinstine edited for his students—omitting wording that would present religious ideas (which explains the frequent use of ellipses)—and which he passed out in class, click here.
In retrospect, Helphinstine admitted to AiG that, while he removed all references to God and creation, leaving Ken's name in the article was a mistake in judgment (though not against any school policy). You see, some parents eventually discovered who Ken is (a creationist), and that triggered a controversy that ultimately led to the firing. (For another example of a teacher who did not teach creation but only brought up the problems with evolution, read our article about a Wisconsin instructor who was demoted simply for questioning Darwinian evolution.)
They're happy as fat clams at a sewage discharge over this. It almost gives them something legitimate to bitch about.
However, I am reminded of a statement Ham made, not too long ago, saying to the effect that AiG wasn't concerned with teaching creationism in public schools. Doesn't he know that you can go to Hell for lying just same as as you can for stealing....?
