What hypocrisy - The Eugenics Act (forced sterilization of allegedly mentally handicapped people) in the Province of Alberta was enacted by the Fundamentalists of the Social Credit party in the 1930s and wasn't repealled until the Socreds were defeated by the secularist Progressive Conservatives in 1971. When Premier Peter Lougheed spoke at the opening of Tyrrell Museum of Paleontogy in Drumheller, he hinted that it would never have been built if he had defeated the Socreds because of their denial of evolution.

And if you need an antidote after reading that, PZ Myers has already dealt with that bit of ignorance.

I thought one poster in particular, going by the handle "Art," made a very astute comment:

Just a reminder - as a way to avoid the implications of breeding for evolutionary mechanisms, ID proponents tend to liken "artificial selection" to intelligent design. This is what they resort to when ducking matters such as the evolution of maize (macroevolution at its core). Since eugenics is but artificial selection applied to humans, this means that, at its core, eugenics is Intelligent Design. Not Darwinian evolution (whatever that is) but Intelligent Design.

Keep reminding our friends at the DI of this.
