Evidently, all is not as it should be in the WA vote-counting.
By Saturday night, John McCain had already experienced a pretty rough day. He'd been trounced by Mike Huckabee in the Kansas caucuses, and then learned he'd been beaten handily in Louisiana GOP primary. In Washington state, which was supposed to be a far easier win for the Arizona senator, McCain was trailing Huckabee for part of the night, but with 87% of the precincts reporting, McCain had a narrow lead, which was less than two percentage points.

That's when it got a little odd. Election watchers kept an eye on the results, waiting for additional precincts to report, and wondering whether McCain's narrow lead would evaporate. The funny thing was, additional precincts didn't report. Despite the narrow margin, and with plenty of votes left to go, the state Republican Party stopped counting and declared McCain the winner.
From there, Huck cranked up his lawyer daughter-in-law and is considering starting proceedings.

I've little doubt that we'll see some of this sort of thing in the general election, but don'tcha just love it when they begin to eat their own?

Just stop the counting when your happy when the current count serves you, eh? Why does this party push for a democracy in, lets just say, Iraq, when they can't even get it right here?

Dishonesty and incompetence are a bad combination. But after 2000 I guess the way they see it is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" based on their pasts success's in questionable counting practices.

American democracy is becoming an oxymoron...

Mayhaps we can get it back.....

But in the meantime, no more Mr. Nice Huck:
CNN) — Mike Huckabee continued to cry foul Monday over the results in Saturday's Washington State GOP caucuses, saying the state party chairman's decision to call the race there early for John McCain is reminiscent of elections in communist bloc nations.

"That is not what we do in American elections," Huckabee said on CNN's American Morning Monday. "Maybe that's how they used to conduct it in the old Soviet Union, but you don't just throw people's votes out and say, 'well, we're not going to bother counting them because we kind of think we know where this was going.'

In a statement released Sunday, Huckabee's campaign said Washington's GOP Party Chairman Luke Esser called the race for McCain when Huckabee was only losing to the Arizona senator by 242 votes and over 1,500 votes remained to be counted. Esser has said he remains confident he made the right call.

Speaking on CNN, Huckabee said the campaign has sent lawyers to the state to formally challenge the result.
Ouch! Whether or not a finish count confirms the call, if there is anything a political organization doesn't need is to be called a bunch of communists by a candidate of their own party; a popular candidate who's getting lots & lots of votes!

And, if Huck had not bitched strenously about it and called up his legal-beagle daughter, does anyone really believe that the count would have actually been finished? Hahahahahaha!

Bunch'a fuckin' communists..... Damn, but I wish the Democraps had that much nerve in 2000......

I hate to see this happen in my state. Unfortunately this is not an isolated incident, we have had problems with the general elections as well, but those were more closely scrutinized afterwards and the system fixed up to a degree.
