The Danes, unwilling to be bullied by ultra-fundie, religious wankers have re-published one of the Mohammed cartoons that set off the Great Islamic Hissy-Fit of a couple of years ago.
(CNN) -- Newspapers in Denmark Wednesday reprinted the controversial cartoon of the Prophet Mohammed that sparked worldwide protests two years ago.

The move came one day after Danish authorities arrested three people who allegedly were plotting a "terror-related assassination" of Kurt Westergaard, one of the cartoonist behind the drawings.

Berlingske Tidende, one of the newspapers involved in the republication, said: "We are doing this to document what is at stake in this case, and to unambiguously back and support the freedom of speech that we as a newspaper always will defend," in comments reported by The Associated Press.

I thought it was very good myself, both subject & art. It's even better than this one:

The pity of it all is that most of our own, corporate media would never have had the cajones. Indeed, I don't recall ever seeing one of the drawings of Big Mo in any of our papers nor on the toob, nor even at their sites.

Denmark rocks!

Congrats to the Danes!

Some will see this reprinting as courageous. It is, but I see it mainly as a logical act of self-defense. Let the Jihadists get used to freedom of expression. Shove it in their faces until they either become desensitized, or die of apoplexy.

Basic democratic human values are not negotiable. Never let them dictate what we do in our own lands. Imagine the Islamic fundies' outrage, were infidel foreigners to demand they stop insulting other religions, or face assassination. They'd have a point, too, but this stuff only works one way for fanatics. They are blind to their hypocrisy. For them, it's "my way or the ji-hiway."

One positive result of this murder plot is that my local bleeding-heart-liberal-PC paper now does show the cartoon in question.

I'm guessing there must be something to do with context. In or out it seems simple enough.
