Oh, well. Here's what I had to say... (good thing I saved what I wrote)
The movie Expelled makes a big deal about ID-proponents being expelled from scientific discourse. Real or imanined gripes seems irrelevant in the face of the astounding hypocricy revealed by the producers of the movie.
They gripe about being expelled from the scientific arena because they are critics of Evolutionary Theories, while at the same time having no problem expelling people who are critics of ID. The irony is practically knocking me off my chair.
This kind of hypocricy only shows that the producers and promoters of the movie Expelled is intellectually bankrupt.
The Golden Rule, treat others as you'd like them to treat you, has been forgotten by the Expelled crew. Maybe it wasn't even on the map. I would have expected more from people batting for Christians.

Funny, isn't it? The movie lies about poor, "dissident scientists" being persecuted, and constantly compares modern scientific academia with the Nazis. But in reality, who uses armed guards to prevent the possibility of discussion? The goose-stepping Creos who made the movie, of course.

Can't wait to find out how the Harvard animation footage made it into the film. Then again, the screening supposedly wasn't the "finished" movie, so we'll see if it makes it into theaters. I have a feeling these idiots just might be stupid and arrogant enough to try it, yet I think the threat of a lawsuit will actually scare some sense into them.

Yeah, from Dawkins' brief mention, that cell animation was the best part of Expelled.
Though PZ seems (fairly enough) to assume that it's taken from "The Life of a Cell," it might not be that one. I get the impression that Dawkins hasn't seen the Harvard animation before, and PZ, of course, hasn't seen Expelled.
On the other hand, the Expelled guys seem bound and determined to make every boneheaded mistake that they can. Including that animation without permission would be very boneheaded, indeed. A real IDiotic stunt.

| Oh yeah! Priceless -- wish I could've been there. Quote-mined from the article: The movie the two scientists wanted to see was “Expelled,” whose online trailer asserts that people in academia who see evidence of supernatural intelligence in biological processes — an idea called “intelligent design” — have unfairly lost their jobs, been denied tenure or suffered other penalties as part of a scientific conspiracy to keep God out of the nation's laboratories and classrooms. |
And there we have it, in a national newspaper, no less. All of their ridiculous denials of being creationists have just gone down the happy, ol' drain.
Expelled is looking like the best thing to happen to ID hyperbole & demagoguery, ever!

And here it is; Dembski's Snivel, the first, I suspect, of many: [
Discovery News Release on Richard Dawkins Crashing EXPELLED Screening
William Dembski
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE PRESS CONTACT: ROBERT CROWTHER DISCOVERY INSTITUTE (206) 292-0401 X107 ROB@DISCOVERY.ORG
Richard Dawkins, World's Most Famous Darwinist, Stoops to Gate-crashing Expelled by Bruce Chapman, www.evolutionnews.org
Like many films im pre-release, Ben Stein's Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed is being selectively screened around the country to develop a buzz.
There is a growing fear by the producers that Darwinists may be trying get into the showings to make bootleg copies (for the Web?), possibly in hopes of damaging the commercial value. Others may be crashing because they want to trash it before it even gets reviewed by the media. P.Z. Myers, who was not let into a showing last night in Minnesota, probably falls in the latter category.
Amazingly, the best selling Oxford scientist/author Richard Dawkins also crashed a showing of Expelled in Minnesota last night and he not only was let in, but introduced at the end of the showing.
Dawkins apparently acknowledged that he had not been invited and did not have a ticket. A sophomoric side to his ideological is thus revealed.
Dawkins, understandably is nervous about this film, among other reasons because Ben Stein has him on camera acknowledging that life on Earth may, indeed, have been intelligently designed, but that it had to have been accomplished by space aliens! This is hilarious, of course, because Dawkins is death on intelligent design. But it turns out that that view applies only if it includes the possibility that the designer might be God.
| C'mon Billy, share the secret with us; who or what exactly is the Designer? Don't crawfish around with that puerile "oh, it might be God" crap, but come right out and say it: "Goddidit!" Stop being a Democrat and how a little spine. That's one thing I'll give Hovind, Bill; he was/is as full of shit as you can get, but he was, and no doubt remains, never afraid to make that statement.
I'm looking forward to seeing your little epic, if I don't get kicked out (that by itself would be a badge of honor). I'm sure it will be a revelation and, yes, a comfirmation.

And now, Denyse weighs in. I am loving this more every minute: But - why does PZ Myers NEED to see the Expelled film?
O'Leary
A friend tells me there is quite the kadiddle going on over at Darwinist Web sites on account of PZ Myers getting the bum's rush out of the recent Expelled screening.
And he wasn”t let in even though Richard Dawkins, also sneaking around, was let in and introduced.
What, I wonder, did Dawkins say?
Hi, I'm Richard Dawkins and, even though I live in Oxford, England, I just happened to be skulking around here this evening, so I …. (?)
Gotta admire his initiative though. Rats, I can't get a DVD out of the Expelled myself, and their show won't open in Canada till way later than the States' kickoff.
| They don't come right out and say it (yet), but the impression comes across that PZ & Dawkins were trying to sneak in through a fire exit like grade-schoolers at the Saturday Matinee.
What, I wonder, was the quality of the popcorn?

You're right. The old style creationists are liars, but of a different sort. As biblical literalists, they are bound to deny any evidence that doesn't jive with thier book. And that takes them to some very unusual places, logic-wise. Lacking the tools of evidence while being in possesion of the big "Truth" will do that to you I suppose.
But these guys lie through there teeth about everything, including their relationship to religion, even after having being caught. Show them demonstrable proof of their lies, and what do they do? They lie about it! "Crossroads" indeed!
They are in full spin mode now, all of it is transparent, and it is hillarious to watch. |

That is some funny shit, the claims of "crashing" the screening. PZ registered for tickets in his own name, and they checked everyone's ID at the entrance.
Also, no one had tickets. None were issued. You signed up online for a seat, they emailed you if you got a spot, and you showed ID to get in.
What a bunch of asshats, claiming these guys were sneaking in or something.

Lying indeed. As we all know, Expelled is all propaganda. And this link is yet another confirmation.
Found at the Thumb: Allen MacNeill Wrote:
However, unlike PZ Myers and Richard Dawkins, the interviews with Will and I were not included in the film. Why not? Because (as many posters at this site are well aware), we regularly invite ID proponents (such as Michael Behe, John Sanford, Hannah Maxson, and Phillip Johnson, among many others) to make presentations in our evolution courses at Cornell. But this fact would clash in an unfortunate way with the premise of the film, which is that “Darwinists” unfairly discriminate against ID supporters and creationists.
| Y'know, this thing just might run afoul of an immutable Law second only Murphy's: The Law of Unintended Consequences.
