| Hadn't thought of that, which'll give you some idea of how long it's been since I've gone to one. Yeah, I agree, no buttons is a bummer indeed and evidently you & I are not the only curmudgeons to feel this way. Movie rental stores flourish throughout the land, yea even in these evil, latter days of Bushoreaganomics, and Amazon.com drips with wealth from DVD sales, some small part of it from me.

I go to the theaters because I like being fiscally raped by the concession stand. |

I'm seeing it on friday at the cinema. If I watch things at home I never concentrate on them properly. ...I'll smuggle my own food in... |

Saw it yesterday. It's awesome! Classic over the top pulp fiction.
I disagree with the review of Cate's performance. I think the antagonists are supposed to be cliched. The Nazis were, the crazy human sacrifice dudes were and now the Russians.
Now, when is the 4 disc boxed set coming out?

Only the end was a bit disappointing. The crazy guy at the end knew too much, and talked too much about the origin of the mystery and where the skull-makers came from. Just like the problem with too many American movies: too much is explained for the audience's benifit. We don't need to have everything spelled out for us, we are perfectly capable of figuring stuff out for ourselves. And, certain things are better left a mystery to us or the suspense will be destroyed. Let me edit out a few selected minutes from the movie, and it'd be a much better flick.
Edit: Otherwise I agree with recurve boy |

Well; I was expecting to be disappointed and mostly was.
I agree with you assessment, crazy guy explained too much. Maybe Spielberg was afraid that the movie goer would feel cheated if all the mysteries were not cleared out at the end.
Mostly, I was a bit annoyed as to how the movie went to fantastic right from the beginning and at how much fantastic there was. It was a different feel from the previous movies, I think, were fantastic elements were much more limited.
Not to mention: aliens? Needless additions to the lore nuff said. And crystal skulls? Why not electing some REAL archaeological artefact?
I would have gone for Altantis or something involving Vinland or the colony of Roanoke... for example... |
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. It was ok but not great. The performances were good but the script was kinda clunky at times. And a lot of the perilous situations accompanied by whoamg CGI! seemed a bit hokey. |
