Boycotting French products?
You mean to tell me France makes things?
All this freedom fries and freedom toast is starting to sound like communist food. You know, the USSR had "Comrade Cola" and China has "The People's Burger". |

lol...read this excerpt from the Guardian on-line...
"It is packaged in the lurid red and white of the Stars and Stripes and the logo mimics that famous swirl, but there is something different about this brand of cola. The clue is in the name: Mecca-Cola. The brainchild of French entrepreneur Tawfik Mathlouthi, 46, it is an attempt to capitalise on a wave of anti-US feeling by persuading consumers to 'buy Muslim'.
The soft drink is now expected to go on sale in Britain after Muslim activists decided the Real Thing left a sour taste"

This will mean less room for that all beef patty(lips, spleen and hair), Budweiser beer, Wonder bread and American cheese. I have to ask myself if this deprivation will be all that bad.

Ah, yes. The old saw seems to fit here. "Never underestimate the power of human stupidity".
I find it reactionary and pointless to boycott products from a country that disagrees with us on foreign policy. France doesn't agree with a ground war in Iraq. They have valid concerns and have not expressed that they would oppose by force the US. Heck, are we going to boycott beer because the Austrians refused to allow US troop trains to move through their country? Or are we as Americans just going to recognize a soveriegn states right to disagree?
Jelly, please do not confuse the antics of government attention whores and uberpatriots (people who hide behind patriotism instead of thinking) for the attitude of all Americans. What is probably not getting out to the rest of the world is the multiple protests against a war in Iraq in the US. |
