neo-paganism, christianity, islam, judiasm, new-ageism or whatever its called. none of them make any sense at all. if you enjoy religion, do it; most of us do irrational things from time to time.

my wife likes to dabble in that new-age crap and some of her friends are new-agers. its all i can do to even be civil to those people. they are as bad, or worse than fundis when it comes to critical thinking skills. at least catholics are willing to confront physical reality when they have to.

Thanks, Marc, for answering that one for me. While some of the letters were for insiders only, most of them were for the general public, and hawked on the street with requests for donations (at least at the time of my involvement). The full name of The Family is The Family of Love, but back in '75, it was known as The Children of God. I actually feel better now that I'm able to own up to the silliness of my youth. I suppose that "confession is good for the soul" is how a religionist would put it.

What's a Mo letter?

The only Mo Letters I know of are from the cult known as The Family. Their leader would spread news and teachings to members through the letters. Usualy these were secret items for full members only and not sold in the street. Among the practices of this group was "flirty fishing". In which they would entice people to join by haveing their more attractive members flirt with people and coax them to join.

I'm still not understanding but thanks anyway. Does Mo stand for something?

"Mo" is the nickname of the group's founder, David Berg, aka "Moses David."

Don't leave Sarahbear! There's nothing wrong with sharing differing viewpoints. The folks on this board run the whole spectrum of religious beliefs. Okay, the young-earth creationist fundies don't hang out very long, but I think we have everything else pretty well covered.
True, sometimes we get a little testy or annoyed with one another, but out-and-out flames are few and far between.
Also, check out the other folders. We talk about a lot of topics other than religion.
