I am not afraid of Piper. (Piper is a guy???) I simply ignore Piper's posts whenever I see them. I enjoy posting over at BABB and have no problems with negative people. They become ex-negative people as far as I am concerned and I post as if they no longer exist.
If nobody answered them, then they would be there but not be noticed. Try that. Give them absolutely no attention.
I made the mistake of paying attention to Piper, but no longer do. Phil Plait (BA) does a good job of eliminating the blatently obnoxious posts. Some of the other writers on BABB need to brush up on the latest astronomy. But, Phil Plait can always set them straight when he gets the time. The newcomers need to visit Ned Wright's Cosmology Tutorial (complete with articles on a lot of crank science) in order to set them straight about cosmology, etc.
Of course, what is fun here on Skeptic Friends Network is that we can change the topics without fear of the man with the hook pulling us off the stage. Also, I like having the ability to remove my own posts here. There are some on BABB that I would like to change, but what the heck. Probably nobody notices them anyway.
When you visit BABB, just ignore the ignoramuses and do your own thing. Do not pay attention to the negative posts. Eventually, they will leave you alone. At least you can leave them alone...
Big deal...

I am beginning to think that you might be right, just ignore them. We have won the real battle with the moon hoax cranks; the battle of facts, logic, and evidence. In all modesty, I think I handled the infamous Piper pretty well in an all out pissing contest after he/she provoked me by insulting RubySue. Unfortunately, I had to leave for a real world engagement right in the middle of it. I think I could win that contest with the rest of the HBs and trolls, too, but why pollute the BA's excellent board with it? Like most of the HBs, Piper seems to have a large large emotional stake in not admitting defeat even in a stupid battle of insults, let alone in the battle of ideas that is rightly our priority. I still believe that the moon hoax proponents have committed actionable libel, and I will continue to urge the victims to seek legal remedies, especially against Fox and Nash Entertainment.

I had quit responding to the cranks until he insulted Rubysue too. His amusing non-answer to my put up or shut up questions says a lot about him. Other than playing with JPEGs, he's done no research. He knows nothing about NASA's organisation or the people who work there. It would be intersting if no one responded to the various cranks, but how? We could convice the people on this board with no problem. (Okay, raise your right hand and place the other on your monitor. Repeat after me "I will not respond to .....") Hey Trish! You're a very talented writer. Make up a snappy pledge for us. But how to reach/convice all the others on the BA board? We're only a small fraction overall. Too bad. Just think of the entertainment to be had if the Pipsqueak posted his nonsense and received not a single flame. Lisa

I did make an exception for that goofy conspira-troll Spoq, just as a joke and in the full knowledge that the BA will soon eliminate his idiotic drivel.

Seems we have a pro-hoagland moron over there...

Anybody figure this Jiffery Birks guy out yet? He's rapidly aproaching Computer org/gauss/patch/flavor of the week status in my mind...
In my opinion the nasa jpl logo is highly stylized and does not show what Hoagland (and birks) claims it does... sheesh. Evidence from a LOGO.

I think that Jeffery will have to expend a lot more energy coming up with weird ideas to get breathless about before he can come up to Comp_Org status, but he's made a good start.
BTW, APOD today has a blurb on unknown gamma ray sources, so we can expect another panicky "what are we gonna do to protect ourselves from GRBs" post soon.

I was sitting here watching Stargate SG-1 and I was wondering how people start to believe in cults. To me, it would seem a bit implausible for anyone to be drawn into believing crap like that.
Maybe it's just me.

Wow, Jeffery is really on it with the chemtrails stuff isn't he. Loved Bozola's responses. Guess ol Jeff has never heard of condensation of water vapor. Anyway, it gave Ed and I a good laugh this morning, especially since Megan is on her way over to join us to go to the Ellsworth Air Show. There's going to be a B2 fly-by too. Too bad it won't be flying around in the evening. The UFO reports would skyrocket! Lisa

Ack! A pledge.....
I pledge not to respond to trolls, no matter how silly, irrational, or idiotic they are. Trolls have no bearing on my forays into scientific knowledge. I will only respond to those posts which represent scientific inquiry into astronomy or any related astronomic subject. I will remain calm and respond to new questioners regarding HB claims. If the new questioner turns out to be a troll I will treat them with the same disdain as I do those currently existing.
OK?

A year or so ago, I didn't know a whole lot of the undertow of wacky sites about chemtrails. A co-worker friend was quite livid and caught up with it all. Gave me a URL for some "fantasic" web-site on the cover-ups. I looked it up that eve,.....page after page after page of text, pics of contrails. I just did a very brief gleen-over, then zoomed to the site's links (little theory of mine, - check a site's bedfellows for quick credibility summation). Just what I had guessed,...links to Crop Circles, mystical powers and Pyramids, etc. Crap-o-la!
When I saw Jeffrey's post with his Chem-trail links, I had to hammer him about it.

I was really hoping that the idiot would stumble into my area of expertise...chemistry of pollution, and analysis there of. I'm sure Greg would have been amused, too...;)
Chemtrails are the stupidest, lamest, and most easily refuted conspiranut "theory" yet. Hell, even heiniephilic elfin-esque fatheads from galaxy Zimbalist are more plausible.

looks good to me...covers the crank element too (like Comp_Org and JW).
I'm ready to sign.
