Guess how the "religious right" is taking this election! So yeah, maybe you should be scared...
Cartoon #1.
Cartoon #2 ~~>The following is a comment I sent him about this:
quote: With all due respect, look who's talking about "double-mindedness here! Isn't the xian god the one who had babies and pregnant women killed many times in the OT? Isn't he the "one" who kills babies now, by "allowing miscarriages"?
The actions are the same, the only difference is that if humans do it, you people whig out, justifiably in my opinion, BUT if your "god" does it, then all of a sudden it's OK?!
I've heard all the excuses (wanting to take them to heaven, god's "justified in doing it" or "he made life, he can take it"
To put it delicately, I am not impressed.
<~~This would have been more impressive perhaps if I had not had the bugger-ups in my punctuation!
And finally, Cartoon #3.

Hey, hey! I got a reply, and in record time, too!

<~~This is my reply back: You failed to explain how xians are not double-minded by worshipping the god who's killed more infants than any abortionist ever could.
I've noticed that you religous right types like to demonize those whose opinions you don't agree with. Fine, but in this case, calling me a "nut case" given some of the whacked out things I've seen in your cartoons is just another example of "double-mindedness"!
Ah well.
EDIT: To take out HIS email address as well! |

Well, here's our next exchange:

Subject: Re: Hal Lindsey Cartoons
> Your second letter confirms that you are some kind of nut. What are > "xians? Some kind of alien form a space ship? Further more, when you > refer to my God, please Capitalize His name! Praise Him! JR >
Ok, here's the deal. (Also my last letter, as I suspect we're not going to get anywhere!)
If you can explain to me how you can call a baby-killing god "holy" yet get upset when humans do the exact same thing (well, not the exact same thing, god had it done for free!) then I'll take back what I've said.
It seems you're very good at pointing out other people's flaws, but you aren't so strong at seeing your own.
"Xians" is an old term, I'm suprised you haven't heard of it before. Even other christians know of it:
http://www.xianworldview.com/articles/articles.php?article=FAQ
"Xian" is an abbreviation of "Christian" -- the "X" comes from the Greek letter chi (the first letter of _christos_, from which we get "Christ" in English), which looks very much like an X. It's the same origin as "Xmas" for "Christmas."
And as expected, you've ignored the problems I've posed, and have just gone to the expected name-calling.
Last point: Why should I captialize the name of "god"? I don't even figure he/she/it exists! You want to capitalize it? Fine. It's your god, not mine. If you're going to get that upset over such minor details like that, I figure that's more a statement of your mental health, not mine. --
His last reply was basically the "I'll pray for you" thing:
"I will pray for you--that God will show you how REAL He Really Is!!! Praise Him!!! JR" |

I've been scared since before 9/11, when Bush began pulling out of treaties. I didn't like the arrogance that withdrawing out of Kyoto, for example, showed. And I wondered what he had up his sleeve. Little did I know how bad Bush's presidency would become.
BTW this thread is funny. |

This thread is pretty funny, but I'm terribly frightened by the supposed theocracy we have in store. I find all of it hard to believe that people who are for the death sentence in punishing homosexuals and adulterers, for example are going to impose their ways on to the American lifestyle too much. They may say all they wish but I think it's impossible that the American people will ever let this happen. Although we've elected Bush in to office... and the figures are tight, I would have thought his approval rates were less than 40%... but none the less, there are a lot of gay people and millions of others who would defiantly oppose the radical fundamentalist laws and potentially start a revolution. I don't even know if Bush would push for the death penalty when someone is convicted of being homosexual... Perhaps prison time, but death???
Let's get Bush out before any more damage can be done. I don't like Kerry, but I'm convinced that he is better than Bush. |

The idea that a president or a congress would try to make any laws that regulate a persons sexual preference should scare you. As long as it's two consenting adults, why should it be anyones business? |

Although I voted for and still support President Bush, I'm far less than thrilled with (read: very much opposed to) many his policies. However, I'm even less optomistic about Kerry's potential. As a retired member of the military, I'm disgusted by his post-Viet Nam activities. I'm also uninspired by his voting record on defense. As a Constitutional Republican, I'm even less inspired by his voting record as to the uniform protection of our rights. I'm also concerned about the direction his brand of internationalism would seem to take us. |

Yet you'd support Bush, when Bush is responsible for the drafting of the Patriot Act, and Bush would like to get another version (PA2) passed?
For the first time in US history, right now, because of G.W. Bush, we can be secretly arrested and detained indefinitely on mere suspicion.
No sane person who wants to see rights and civil liberty protected will vote for Bush. |

I think when you are talking pure rights protection Dude has hit the proverbial nail on the head. The record speaks for itself.
