That Article was quite interesting, and it Dovetails quite nicely with my own, albeit more distant, observations.
However, one shouldn't be too quick, to label it Censorship. :0
It reminds me, more of the reluctance of the news services, of reporting upon FDR's Polio Problems. I mean, reporting that the President is sick, is one thing, that he is crippled by a debilitating, and progressive illness, quite another.

That's funny, no one says a word when at least 3 news organizations have already claimed that their counts favored a Bush victory.
Guess the fourth time's the charm for Gore supporters?
The election is over. Get over it...

i'd like to live in a country where the guy that wins the most votes wins the election. the very partisan supreme court would not allow a complete count and sold out for the shrub.

I'm happy to live in a country were the losers of an election don't spend the next four years whining about how they actually won.
Even if you don't like it, Dubya is El Presidente...
...for another 3 years.

Since this is a skeptical board, I think I have to point out my own skepticism of that linked article. It sounds too much like a "friend of a friend" urban legend to me. I am no fan of "highly placed sources", even ones who have been accurate before. Also, the use of a vast conspiracy (especially involving faceless corporate America, which is very difficult to prove) is another alarm-bell-ringer for me.
This to me is the most dangerous kind of story: one in which people want to believe. If you are a democrat, this story is much easier to swallow than what "really" happened.
I am not saying this story isn't true, or even cannot be true; but I am saying we need to apply our vast powers of doubt to this as well.

its wise to be skeptical about all things political.
yes bush will be the prez (or at least the person playing the president) for the next three years. and as a citizen of this lovely republic, i have the right to whine about it.
starman, i visited sweden a few years ago-very nice place, except for the weather.

Well I have to admit that the format, left me a little skeptical at first, too.
But there is still that nagging question, why hasn't there been a definitive report yet, as to how many Votes were cast, for each Candidate. Sheesh, it's worse than how ALL those Creationists claim to have found Noah's Ark, and in SO many DIFFERENT Places!
BTW, BA, I just love your Website. I can't wait for the book.

I don't see how it could possibly make a difference.
The potential for mishandled ballots (there were chads all over the friggin floors fer chrissake!) makes any count completely unreliable.
No one will count the millions of votes that were never counted across the country when one of the candidates pulled far enough ahead to where it was pointless to continue.
People who say definitively that Gore got 500,000 more votes, or that he even got the majority of the popular vote at all, is being dishonest (because it is impossible to know!)
If they say Gore won, Bush supporters won't believe it. If they say Bush won, Gore supporters won't believe it.
This whole thing is stupid, and should be dropped. There is no possible way that we will ever know for sure who got more votes.

That's right we won't know. We won't know because the system fell apart and some key Bush supporters made damn sure we never got to know.
Some of you may feel differently but millions feel as I do.

Same here, @tomic, same here.
Furthermore, thanks to the sheer Immaturity, displayed by the Republikan't Delegation, ANY chance, of me EVER Voting for one of them, went right out the Window, hot on the heels of their Integrity.
Also, the results of the Popular Vote, really aren't necessary, right now, although, they SHOULD eventually be Recorded, for Posterity. No, the Real Issue here, is Florida, and how Katherine Harris, gave the word Dog, a Bad Name!

I would never deny anybody the right to whine There are many nice things in Sweden. The weather and the taxes are not among them. |

It's one of those weird things. The U.S. elected Gore, Florida elected Bush.
Mr. Bush is doing an acceptable job, but lets face it, he's getting a light year of slack because his expectations are so damn low. As long as he doesn't faint at the podium, every speech he makes will be considered a wonderful speech.
I must admit that every time I hear Tony Blair speak I think quietly to myself, "I wish he were our president."
But as I said, President Powell... I mean Bush is doing an adequate job under very trying times.
But I personally think we need to pay more attention to the primaries so we can make sure that the most qualified candidate gets the nomination. There are a number of Republicans and Democrats that dropped out of the race who I would gladly support now.

I was really hoping I would get the chance to choose between McClain and Bradley. The (Money) Powers that Be made sure that I didn't get that chance.
