Nobrain take a look at this time lapse photo http://www.noao.edu/outreach/aop/observers/deepimpact/tempeltrail.jpg That alone proves that the comet got brighter And now look at this before and after image of the comet http://spaceflightnow.com/deepimpact/050704faulkes.html How can you say it has all ways been that bright And now lastly I can say that I was was watching the comet through a telescope it was quite faint but then when the impactor hit it suddenly lit up now please Nobrain explain how NASA made the comet bright up when I was looking through the telescope(Note English is not my first language so I apologize for any bad grammar) |

Surely those images are fake and you are another liar or you have been a pray to suggestion. You have seen the comet resplendent more than stars around.
Brightness of a comet is not due to its nucleus. That ridiculous "explosion" could not increase its brightness |

I will repeat my question again...

Then why is water used to extinguish fires?
By your explanation, water is more flammable than air.

We know very little about everything: water is formed by hydrogen and oxygen. Why doesn't it explode

You are both wrong, at high enough temperatures the water will break down and feed oxygen and hydrogen to a fire sometimes explosively (thus more flammable than air). It doesnt explode at low temps because a large amount of energy is required to break the strong chemical bonds.
from answers.com
quote: when the fire involves burning metals (lithium, magnesium, etc), it becomes useful to consider the chemistry of combustion. Putting water on such a fire could result in the fire getting hotter (or even exploding) because water (H20) contains oxygen that can be set free at high temperatures, and the freed hydrogen is also explosive. Therefore, other specialized chemicals must typically be used to break the chain reaction of metallic combustion— to stop the fire.

You can't get away by pleading ignorance (although I would argue that this whole thread has spotlighted your ignorance).
You claimed that explosions can't happen in space because there is no oxygen. Someone else came back and said that, if that was the case, then explosions couldn't happen underwater because there is no oxygen down there. You replied saying because of oxygen bound up in the H2O molecule, water has more oxygen than air. Now when i point the fallacy of that argument (if you think of it, if the oxygen in water can fuel an explosion, then the remaining hydrogen should also explode as well--chemists, can I get any professional assistance on this?), you plead ignorance. AGAIN, you're stupidity is exposed. |

My previous post was written before I saw BigPapa's. Thanks Big Papa. Even though this is an idiotic thread, we are actually learning something (well...except for BigIdiot). |

As Zaph here relates, he also personally witnessed the impact through a telescope. I'll go out on a limb here and suggest that Zaph was using a personal telescope and was not relying on images. His question was why did Temple 1 brighten in his own scope when NASA could not have tampered with the media he was viewing. (I.E. direct observation) |

Oooooo. I KNOW this one. Because oxygen is inflammable. Or are you suggesting that my MSDS for oxygen is wrong. |

Only one type of explosion requires oxygen - an oxidation reaction. There are others... for example a nuclear explosion. Both produce heat.

Please...don't even think of comparing yourself to DaVinci.
It's your inability to think that makes you an idiot. |

da Vinci didn't offer opinions on chemistry, either. You have. That the assumptions contained concerning chemistry in your post being erroneous doesn't impact da Vinci in the slightest.
And since the rocket parts themselves when in finalized stage form are quite heavy and need to be lifted, why does the existance of a crane this size surprise you?
