Here's some more religious hatred. It seems to be a lot more prevalent than I first guessed.

(a collection of the rantings of these people:- note especially how they seem to hate the ACLU!)

(something even more frightening, the Reconstructionist movement seems to be gaining influence.)

"In response to the article by Kathleen Parker: I hope atheists throughout this country will continue to stay silent ... The immense patriotic reaction to the events of Sept. 11 must have opened eyes within some organizations whose sole purpose has been to gradually and silently chip away at the values we have taken for granted for far too long... The price of freedom has been paid by many generations of men and women throughout our country's glorious and God-fearing history. It would be a shame if we continued to allow a vocal minority to control and decide matters of church and state."

It's not the terrorists who scare me. It's the Love of God and Country= Patriotism who do.

Well, I'll have to say that they both do. However, I'm just speechless when I hear people like this Bill Anderson say things like this. They don't realize that we are only silent with respect to our beliefs (or lack thereof). They are the ones who are pathetically taking advantage of tragedy to try and further their agendas, while we are simply donating time, blood, and money to the victims.

People like this don't realize, or even care that the non-theists in this country are hurting too. They're too busy trying to capture some sort of moral high ground and wrap themselves around the bible to care about much of anything. Have any of them stopped for even a second and thought about how all Americans, (and a good chunk of the rest of the world) have been traumatized by the actions of 9/11? You'd think that turning on the TV and watching about 5000 people die horribly would transcend any theist/non-theist boundries. They should worry more about the general welfare of all people and save the power grabs for another time.
An SFN newbie and I were talking about this last night. He agrees that if these twinks ever get in power, its time to get out of here. He suggested I could make things easier on myself if I could keep my big mouth shut. We both got a chuckle out of that one.
(He went on to tease me about Piper, threatening to track him down and suggest this board. I'll get you for that)

Aw, Lisa - I'm not

Wellll, he also bought the first round when we hit the bar and let me win at pool.
I also let him know that I know his full name, his phone number, his address (I can provide directions), and where he works. He thinks I'm a mean vindictive little bitch. I'd say he got it right the first time.
One thing he brought up is very true. In SD, we prize ourselves on minding our own business. Despite the letters to the editor, no one here really cares what your personal beliefs are. Letters to the editor are considered a source of entertainment, kind of like the circus. If nothing else, it gives the whackos a voice. As I've said, we're tolerant. Let's face it, at this time of year, whether or not you've laid in enough wood is much more important.
A friend of mine is afraid some of our local whackos will go after the non-theists, so he thinks I should keep my mouth shut and fake it. (Okay ladies, when did you ever hear a guy say that).
I will not roll over for a bunch of jack booted religeous nazis who want to tell me what to think. They want me to believe the same way they do? Fine. Provide proof. Can't (of course, its all "faith"). Bye.
I refuse to change my entire outlook because there's people who't don't like me.
