First there was the weird religious crap, now this. The phrase "You've got mail!" is starting to give me shivers. Lisa

Recently I got an e-mail from Ms. Cleo, addressed to Kim.
Ok, who is Kim and what is she doing on my computer?
Thankfuly Cleo is the only psychic/religious crap I've been getting. The rest of my junk mail is from different sources.

At the moment, I have stopped all e-mail on my main site to avoid junk e-mail. In this way, I do not wear out my *delete finger*. I get e-mail at my other sites, so my friends can still reach me.

On a serious note, I don't go on the web very much. Only this site regularly but I noticed that since I have been on here I am also getting those 'weird' emails. Ms. Cleo also, and viagra stuff too. So maybe it's because of being on here. They see a keyword in your posts or the pages you go on, that could be it. I don't know any other thing I'm doing that clues them to what I do on line.

You really want it? I've been getting some lately, that and Viagra ads too, ha ha. I delete it. I'd have to open it to forward it, I'd rather not but if you really want it.

For the record, I have not been getting any emails from Miss Cleo or any other psychic. Unless they're being very selective about which addys their grabbing, this site is not the culprit.

I didn't mean I was getting the spam because of this (SFN)site but that it's the only reason I go on the 'Net'. And that being on the Internet is what might have caused the extra junk email. Oh well, English is not my best subject, I tried! ...to clear things up.

It would be interesting to know where the spammers get my e-mail address. I don't think its this site either. I'm thinking maybe the JREF site. There's a lot more resident cranks over there. There are several folks over there who remind us daily we're all going to burn in hell. Guess they don't want us to feel neglected. Trish gave me a heads up on how I can block most of the spam. I'm tired of opening my mail to find out that: 1) I'm going to hell 2) My boobs are too small

I just remembered, if you are on an e-group, that's one way they can get it. I noticed that on my own e-group that people were joining and then a day later leaving the group. It was weird. I wrote to a fellow freethinker and egroup owner to ask what was going on and he told me that my suppisions were correct that they were joining to get the names on the list. So I made it that no one could see the members of my group. If any of you are on such an egroup you might ask if the owner can do that.

And I, to find out that: 1) I'm not getting rich quick enough, and 2) my penis is too small.
Hmmm... how do they figure out I'm not concerned about the size of my tits?

Hmm, Donnie, generally a name given to males and Lisa generally a name given to females. Sounds simple enough. When my email was some wonderfully fantastic screen name that gave no indication of gender - I received all kinds of weird stuff.

Well, it was pretty much a rhetorical question. But... your answer presumes that some living, breathing human (or a relatively smart bot) actually looked at our respective idents when they grabbed our email addys. Do you think that's common?

Probably a good idea, James.
Now, let's see what's in my deleted mail for the last week.
Five people who think I should join their religion immediately, or die and be misreble for the rest of my life. Or something. I don't read these closely enough to know exactly what their beef is.
Six helpful people who want to help me with my credit card debt! Isn't that nice of them? If they're so smart, why don't they know I don't have any credit card debt?
Yes, there's still three companies out there who think my boobs are too small. Hey, I don't need your herbs, I need to figure out where my husband hid my Victoria's Secret charge card.
Five different e-mails encouraging me to start my own business and work at home. Did someone say "work"? No thanks, my broker can go to work, I'll stay home.
Several nice ladies out there want to tell me my future! Including who I'm going to marry. Wait a minute. Either I'm already married, or there's been some guy just hanging out here for the past 15 years. Hmm, he takes out the trash and mows the lawn, so I must be married.
I'd love to meet someone who sends this stuff out. No, not for anything violent. Maybe later. Do they actually make any money off this crap? Does anyone really respond to these spam ads? I already know what the answer would be if I asked this crowd, but what about the general public? I find it difficult to believe that anyone bright enough to turn on their computer would fall for any of it. Lisa
