I know mostly the Hot Springs area, I don't think i've been up there since I was around your age though. Had an uncle that lived in Rapid till he passed away about five years ago. I have a cousin (that has two sets of twins ACK) who lives north of you all a bit I think, near some Indian Reservation. Also have some cousins in spearfish and deadwood.
I had one uncle in the Hot Springs area for many years too, Rift, but he died back in the late 80's. I know quite a few from Rapid, Sturgis, Spearfish, Custer....all from my years of living at Vermillion, SD. Had a bookstore there for 17 years.

The way my Pieceocrap 2000 has been working, if there's a thunderstorm I'll probably set it out in the yard with a 2-iron strapped to it. I was just over at BA, if you didn't see my message. Yeah, send that geologic crapki on Hoagland's site to a real geologist. I don't have that much background. I have a feeling though, any geologist you send it to will say "I see a mesa". Lisa

I sent it to her, she'll appriciate it. We use to go fundie hunting in chat rooms togther. I'd cover the astronomy side, she'd debunk the "evidence of a global flood" side :)

I'm tempted not to even open his posts anymore. If the whole board would do that, do you think he'd get disgusted and GO AWAY? I scrolled down through the board a minute ago, and what happened to all the cool threads we were having. I was really enjoying the one about asteriod strikes. It's so far down there, it'll be the next to go. And finally, someone has explained the doppler shift in a way I can halfway understand it. Even talking about looney tune sites is better than dealing with Piper. Sheesh, that guy has got to go. Lisa

Lisa, just front and center the thread link along with some provocative comments, or other BA topics - anything at all - it'll fly right over Piper's little burger mind.

I think "Hello" would fly over Piper's head. I'll bet he moves his lips when he reads. He did respond to someone over in the infinite universe thread. Naturally it was a nasty reply. This is too bad. There's folks in that thread who are taking an extremely complex subject, and trying to "dumb it down" so the rest of us (i.e.: me) will understand. Anytime you try to simplify something that complex, analogies get a bit shaky, and I'm sure information gets left out. However, I think I'm starting to understand, at least around the edges. I'm afraid people will get tired of being harassed by Piper and go away. I've decided not to let the guy bother me. I'm not responding to any more of his posts, no matter how easy the return flame looks. If everyone does that, he'll get frustrated at the lack of attention and hopefully, go away. BTW DocN posted a wonderful bit explaining "trolls". A must read. Lisa

Pipehead's track record is to hang in the air like some 3 day old gaseous nebula, then morph his brain-stem ass out of there, at least not leaving his paw-prints on the board. He'll float away before too long, if he hasn't now. He's still waiting for his burger.
Not to worry about threads, if people are interested, "They'll be bach."

quote: (Lisa)   You liked the badlands huh? You ought to be there sometime for a thunderstorm at night. I don't mean a wimpo one, I mean where it sounds like new mountain ranges are being born and you can damn near read because there's so much lightning. Awesome!
was in the Badlands region back in '93...got caught in a tornado warning/hailstorm/rainstorm...never saw such a storm in my life!

Like I've said, this is an awesome area. We can't even trust weather.com, because the Black Hills provides it's own twist on weather systems. What I said holds true for all you regular posters. If you're going to be here for the rally, let me know, I'll stand you a beer. Additionally, if you're having problems with lodging, I might be able to help. (You might end up on the couch in my living room, but it beats $89.95 at motel 8. And I can cook) Lisa

Now this was a funny site(no I had never been there before). It gave me this mental image of a patient at a mental hospital saying "Why am I in here with all these crazy people". LOL
