If you really want to rant without worry, I could make a "members only" forum that is password protected and invite only. It would also shield certain language, etc from any kids that might peruse these boards.

Only if you want to. We're usually happy with just using words like "brain-dead", "moron", and "idiot".
On the other hand, subjects may come up in the future, and not just on the BA board, where folks will want to vent.
BTW, thanks for the IM feature. Trish and I were burning it up last night, mainly gossiping, but not taking up any space on any forums. And besides, in a private message, we can name names.

Hey my pleasure. There is another bit of code coming that should make it function almost exactly like Instant Messages. Maybe a day or two, but it's coming.

Well, it's helped me to rant here. thanks :) Phil does have to keep the rants and the flame wars to a minimum over there, he has a lot of kids.
I guess Nick is an "ignore it and it will go away" type, Pilt. I've never understood that philosophy either, I have more of a "stomp on it before it gets bigger" philosophy :)
And if we did ignore it, what the heck would we talk about on the BAD astronomy board? Goodastronomy? :)

A private board for certain members would be a good idea, it would be better just to set the software up only to allow certain people access, instead of putting a password on it.
Also it might be a good idea to create a Bad Astronomy rant board so that the messages about the other board don't take up the rest of the Forum.

Any of that is possible. No need to password them because they are invisible to all except Moderators, Admin and allowed members. If that fails, they aren't getting past the bouncer.

I don't think any of us 'ranters' wish to take over the board with ranting, we've limited it to this folder alone (it does have Bad Astronomy it's name after all ) and I really don't see us spreading out of it.
But I'm certaintly not against a better named folder under some other category. We're not really talking about creationism anymore :)

Okay, now Nick is even starting to piss me off. Came over here for a little rant, rhuturuiruh, a little forehead on the keyboard. Trish, he answered your post. He still doesn't think we should waste debunking the hoaxers. Reading his last post to you, I get the message that he feels that people who believe the stuff aren't intelligent enough to understand the explanation. Someone give me a sledgehammer, I'm going back in for another round.

OK, now I hafta go look. Kids understand most things right up until they are told they shouldn't. Up to a certain age anyway after that age (maybe 12-16) they start thinking on their own or use as a cop-out.
Hope he doesn't piss me off too much!
