Damn Trish, sounds like you're going through what I did a couple weeks ago, althought it is different illnesses. I hope he's okay. Hope you're okay too.
With mom, the doctors were mostly clueless. Mom got better and we were all excited that she was going to be home for her birthday, then she abrubtly took a turn for the worse and died four hours before her birthday... Almost enough to make you get religion and try alternatives to medicine :) (That was a joke guys, lol)
Anyway, I hope things go much better with your dad.
My next door neighbor had a heart attack the day before mom's funeral, and it is sorta strange how I'm so worried about her now. Like i'm displacing all my worry about mom on her now, which is probably what I'm doing. Just sick of death now I guess. Sick of people being sick too.
BTW- I apologize for waking Piper up over on the BABB. I thought it was cool he made Crank.Net and just wanted to tell everybody :(
I thought the dork was long gone, if I had ANY idea it would start him posting again, I would NEVER have said anything...

Hehehe...
Don't worry about it, Rift. Piper's not the worst fruitcake out there, even if he does get under everybody's skin sometimes -- even the BA's, and he's usually pretty thick-skinned.
Have you been by Randi's board lately? "ICanTakePicturesOfDemons" makes our buddy Piper look positively centered...

The Bad Astronomer says: "...you cannot preview your post; you have to post it and hope for the best, and then edit afterwards."
***** Chip: It sounds like one can just write a post, and if it's too goofy or has errors, just go back and revise it after its posted. (-;
If one is worried about sperl...umm... sull...er..I mean...spelling, simply keep a WordPad file open and minimized. When you want to comment or post something new, just open the file, write your words, click on "spell check" (knowing that a lot of names and terms will be marked as errors,) copy n' paste.
(A lot of people do this, Sorry if I stated the obvious.)
P.S. Even then "than" it won't correct the properly spelled “wrong word", but it usually saves me from total embarrassment. But knot all ways!

Thanks Rift. I'm trying to muddle through as best I can. At least the VA hospital is taking this more seriously than his insurance did. It is a bit scary, I worry that he's giving up.

Rift, when I saw your post about Piper, I knew he'd "wake up". All I had to do afterwards was explain to my brother why I was swearing at the computer. Ah well, Piper adds a bit of "business as usual" to a world a bit awry right now.......Okay, I've had enough normalcy, get rid of the asshole.
Trish, sorry to hear about your Dad. Spend time with him. Even though he's doped up, I'm sure he still knows you're there. Lisa

Hello all. They just diagnosed my dad with multiple myeloma. Anyway, he's starting on chemo tonight and they're saying that he only has another 3 years or so. It's in an advanced stage and nothing can be done to stop the cancer - only treat the symptoms.
Edited for spelling and to make it understandable.

I echo the BA's sentiments, Trish. I hope the therapy leaves him feeling well enough to enjoy his remaining years.
I know it's cold comfort, but we're all under a sentence of death. It's just that most of us don't know when the sentence will be carried out. Think of 9/11; nobody can be sure what will happen on any given day.
I'm afraid the next few years will be hard on you and the rest of your family. I wish you the strength to get through it.

Hey Phil...when is the new board going to get cranked up? I clicked on "members" and noticed a nice line-up of the usual suspects. Also loved you un-invite at Mifletz. That dude was too weird for words. Lisa

Actually, the board is open now, as far as I can tell. The website is still not linked to the outside world through the name, but the IP address works. Why don't y'all give it a try?
I don't like banning people. It irks me. I am a cynical optimist; I understand there are bad people out there, but I hope for the best. It makes me very upset when people cannot figure out how to abide by my very simple rules. I also worry I am applying them selectively to people with whom I disagree.
It just so happens, though, that a lot of the people who cannot figure out how to post politely or appropriately are also big believers in pseudoscience. I have a difficult time believing this is a coincidence. I just deleted a long post from someone about evolution and anthropology; not only was it not astronomy, but the email address was blank. Amazing.

I can understand that you don't want to ban people from the board. That's why I've said I'd be in a real quandry if any of our favorite HB trolls ever decided to show up here. I guess its a free country, and someone can believe what they wish. However, if they got too insulting (a la He Who Shall Not Be Named), I'd probably have to jump on the delete button. The rules on the BABB are simplicity itself, and no different than we expect from society in general. If I want to call someone a f***ing idiot, I'll either take it to a private forum, or go on Jerry Springer. Lisa
