Lisa, can you be more specific? I just clicked on the huge NEW TOPIC image at the top, and posted in the the Bad TV section. It asked for my user name and password, and posted it right up.

It worked for me, also. Logged me in just fine. Just, FYI.

Very strange. Even though it says "Not logged in", it appears that I am. I just posted with no problems.
Then again, I've admitted that I'm something of an internet moron.
Patrick - since I showed you this site, I figure you're probably lurking. I don't want to hear it, okay? I'm learning. Albeit slowly, but I'm learning.

BA --

Two observations:

The post editing works, but I discovered that if you leave your sig off the original post, the editing routine doesn't let you add it.

There's at least one misspelling in the Smilies screen: "Embaressed". I haven't read through all the rest of the stuff on that page, though.

Rubysue-

I say you should at least lurk for a bit at the new BABB. It looks nice, has a few bugs(having to re-login every time you post doesn't help), but otherwise, it should keep the rifraff out.

That's strange...I just posted this and it showed up above both of rubysue's posts. Weird.

Did it again. Time here(CDT): 07:18 AM 10/23/01

Trish -
So sorry to hear about your Dad; I wish you the best and hope things aren't too painful for you or him. We all seem to be going through this stuff right now. My Dad (87) has been diagnosed with a nasty disease called Wegener's Granulomatosis (an autoimmune disease that eats away at the sinuses, eyes and kidneys) and my Mom had a lumpectomy this summer (they got it all, fortunately).

To everyone else, thanks for the nice words. I'm not gone, just lurking for a few days while I lick my wounds after being called a "bully" because I have different (and strong) opinions about recent events that don't seem to sit well with the primary owner of this forum. I also got tired of banging my head against the wall with Gorgo the fiend.

I'll check out the new BABB and let you know what I think.

Hey noticed Mifletz (or WTF is name is) is back. See, now things are getting back to "normal". Now all we need is for someone to post some badly altered pictures, and we can really get on with our lives. [/sarcasm]

Un-Freaking Believable

Martin Selbrede by way of Mifletz:

"It's not a good system, but it's the one we've got."

BA:

"No, it's not the system we've got. The system is: register and then post."

Right on, Phil.

Geocentrism must represent the pinnacle (or depth??) of ego-centrism. Ever notice on the old board how they could seldom follow a thread? In fact, Mifletz was the only one of the bunch who ever posted responses within a thread -- Bouw and Selbrede would always continue a discussion by taking it to the top in a new thread.

Now Selbrede, his time so precious, feels he only needs to respond to the issues forwarded to him by his minion Mifletz. Unbelievable.

Just so you all know, twice I've called Selbrede on this style:

Back in May 1999, in response to his lecturing someone to please read the old posts before venturing into a discussion, I said to him: "This doesn't really seem to be a fair comment. For one, the way geocentrists typically respond to questions on this board is by starting a new thread which really doesn't promote discussion. It does, however, allow questions or statements to be avoided." He ignored it and continued with the style before dissappearing for quite a long time.

When he reappeared in April this year, it was to trash me on some comments I made in, err, ah, my trashing of Barry Setterfield's c-dk thing. He wouldn't respond in the thread. It had to be brought to the top. So my opening line in my reply to him was: "Hi Martin. Are you going to be responding to comments made down below by starting new threads, like you did when you were defending geocentricity?"

I just find their whole style so bloody weird, and I think it's part and parcel of the geocentrist mindset.

Hi, guys. I notice that the BA has locked the Mifletz/DStahl/Selbrede/Rosen thread on Sagnac effect. (Incidentally, for those who don't know, I decided to register as DStahl rather than Dog_Ed on the BABB.)

BA, I want to be sure I am not making you, as moderator and owner of the board, uncomfortable. First, I do get emotionally involved. I don't think it was over the line to say "I wish that geocentrists would not try to co-opt Sir Fred Hoyle to their cause" and "If you can't manage to let the man speak in his own words, then you're not playing the game according to Hoyle." But if you think that crossed the line into a gratuitous ad hominem, fergawdsakes tell me! Second, I know there are rules against posting copyrighted material, but I find myself posting quotations (with references) from various sources in order to clarify my points and to give everyone a chance to check the sources and learn more if they wish. I think I'm staying well within the rules for citations of copyrighted material but if you want me to cut back, again, let me know!

I could email you but I'm content to wait for a reply here. And besides, it lets other people profit from your reply...and take potshots at me if they want!

Dog_Ed, the reason why BA locked down the thread was not because of you. He would have e-mailed you if he had a problem with you. BA locked down the thread because Martin Selbrede was posting either as Mifletz or through him and BA just got sick and tired of him doing that.

One more thing:

quote:
A GOBLIN MOON TONIGHT

For the first time in 46 years, Halloween goblins can trick or treat by the light of a full moon. They won't get another chance until 2020.
Tonight's full moon will look like a jack-o'-latern as it rises, appearing orange at the horizon because it's seen through denser layers of the atmosphere.
Pleiades, or the Seven Sisters, a constellation associated with calamity, also will be at the top of tonight's sky.
The Aztecs and Mayans believed that the open cluster of stars, which looks like a cluster of grapes, would be overhead at midnight when the world ends.
The Seven Sisters and the full moon will be directly overhead at midnight.

How much do you wanna bet that nothing is gonna happen?

What's the deal with Mifletz posting private e-mail on the BA Board? It should be obvious this is a no-no. Without going back and re-reading the FAQ, was this covered? Phil, you going to post another rule?
I've traded e-mails with folks on the board, and had some truly splendid arguments. However, I wouldn't want to see these missives show up for public viewing. Especially after some of the things we called each other. (This was back during the "should we respond to trolls" debates)
