Howdy Hook :)
Yeah, this is where we all come to talk bad behind their backs so we don't have to let out our frustrations over there. Well, that's the theory anyway :P Doesn't work all the time... I admit I have to slap my hands to keep from responding to JW and then rush over here and post how stupid he is to get it all out of me :)
JW is an interesting case. It's obvious he has a right wing/creationist aggenda. He also baits people and then complains when we bait him. I remember a while ago he posted a picture of a footprint shaped fossilized impression with his hand nearby for scale. He didn't mention the word 'footprint' and when somebody said "well, it's not a footprint" he took them to task for having a knee-jerk reaction.
So I think I'll just believe the fad and urban legend of the speed of light and let him prattle on without me :)

Yeah, though I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that JW may be right about one thing. It appears that the speed of BS is much faster than c, even in local inertial frames.

BA, glad you posted a reasoned and complete explanation on the board. In an email Spoq told me he would continue to post to the board under another name, so we'll have to watch out for him. Or "them"--he refers to himself in the plural, for some reason. Maybe he means himself plus the voices in his head?

Twenty years in military communications taught me that writing two drafts is advisable. Especially if I'm pissed. A letter that starts out "Listen up, shithead" is probably going to go downhill really fast. The second draft (or third) goes, anything prior is consigned to the shredder.
It won't be too hard to spot Spoq. (Hey, say that five times fast) We know what his favorite subjects are.

I posted an anti-geocentrism essay on the site, near the top, after Mifletz's post. I'd appreciate it if anyone can spot a flaw in my argument. I am pretty sure I am correct, however.

I noticed there were a couple deleted posts in the Doctor Who thread. One with the subject heading "This isn't Astronomy"...
Okay, now I'm a HUGE Dr. Who fan, I absolutely love that show, but if there is one thing that belongs on a bad astronomy board, it's Dr. Who. :P
And bad physics, bad chemistry, and bad biology... :P
